Historical novel of Jacob Faithful who lost his parents in dramatic circumstances and was brought up on the lighters on the River Thames by the owner of the wharf. Two Volume Set. Volume I includes an introductory essay by George Saintsbury lxv + 275 pages + 5 colour plates. Volume II = 319 pages + 7 colour plates by R. W. Buss. Bound in blue embossed cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Gilt top edge. Nice gift inscription on front endpaper of Vol I. Limited Edition of 750 copies. A little bumping and rubbing to covers and minor foxing to page edges but in general a good clean set.
