London Archibald Constable & Co 1898 Hard Back Good No Jacket
History of the Gaiety Theatre, known for music hall and then for musical burlesque, pantomime and operetta performances - it had a major influence on the development of modern musical comedy. A good clean hardback in burgundy cloth boards with gilt lettering. Spine strip has faded and cloth is rubbed to extremities. Newspaper articles about the theatree and her performances have been pasted to the endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with b/w photographs of the author (who was the manager of the theatre) and some of the performers. 493 pages including index. A good copy of this now hard-to-find title.
