Poor ex-library copy - binding is loose though intact. Long ink stain to blank front endpaper - and small stain to fore edge, though text block is generally clean though there is a child's drawing in crayon to the blank area of one page. . A few pages have small tears and losses to margins - no text affected. One of the plates is missing (facsimile extract from the Domesday survey of Stepney) otherwise all plates and maps are present. 308 pages including index. A perfectly acceptable reading copy of this now hard-to-find title which explores the rich history of the congested and poverty-stricken district of London.
